Terms of Use — Asl

Last updated:

These terms apply when you download or use the Asl app (أصل) or its pages on malifund.com. Asl is made by Mali Fund (“we”).

By using Asl you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What Asl does

Asl shows Shariah screening results for US and Saudi stocks and funds, keeps a list of your assets, and estimates Zakat and purification amounts.

Information, not a fatwa or advice

Screening results are information, not a fatwa. Scholars and Shariah standards can reach different results for the same company.

Asl does not give investment, financial, legal or tax advice. It does not tell you to buy, sell or hold any security.

Zakat and purification amounts are estimates. They depend on the method you choose and the numbers you enter, and they are not a ZATCA filing. For your own case, ask a qualified scholar or adviser.

You are responsible for your own investment decisions and for paying your Zakat.

Data accuracy

Prices, company figures and screening results come from third-party providers. The app lists them under Settings, Data sources. Prices can be delayed.

We work to keep the data correct, but it can contain errors, gaps or delays. Screening results can change after new financial reports. Check important information yourself before you act on it.

Your information

The information you enter stays on your device. You are responsible for it, and for keeping a copy if you need one. Our Privacy Policy explains this in detail.

Licence and acceptable use

We give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use Asl on devices that you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.

You must not:

  • copy, scrape or resell data from the app;
  • use the app or its data to build another product or service;
  • try to break, overload or get around the security of the app or its servers;
  • use the app in a way that breaks the law.

Ownership

The app, its name, logo and design belong to Mali Fund. Market data and screening results belong to their providers, and we use them under licence. These terms give you no rights to them other than to use the app.

Changes and availability

Asl is free today. We can add, change or remove features, or stop the app, at any time. We will try to announce large changes in the app.

We can update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you continue to use Asl after a change, you accept the new terms.

No warranty

Asl is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, including that the app is free of errors, always available or fit for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using Asl or relying on its information. This includes investment losses, lost profit, and a Zakat or purification amount that is too high or too low.

Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

App Store and Google Play

If you got Asl from the Apple App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no duty to maintain or support it. Apple is not responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability claims, legal or regulatory claims, and claims that the app infringes someone else’s intellectual property. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple can refund the price you paid (if any); Apple has no other warranty duty. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo and not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

If you got Asl from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Google is not responsible for the app.

Ending use

You can stop using Asl at any time by deleting it. We can end your right to use Asl if you break these terms.

Governing law

The laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia govern these terms. The competent courts in Saudi Arabia decide any dispute, unless the law of your country gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
